Kate McBride, scrittrice e regista, si interessa al mondo della Polaroid, con i suoi contorni sfuocati e risultati imprevedibili. Utlizza la fotografia istantanea sin dagli anni ‘80, per catturare quei momenti che si andranno poi ad intrecciare con i suoi sritti ed i suoi film. Le Polariod Spectra presentate in questa mostra sono state scattate in luoghi ben diversi tra loro, come il desreto del su-ovest degli Stati Uniti, il Golfo di Napoli, le col- line toscane, Jerez de la Frontera. La stampa ingrandita su carta giapponese realizzata a mano rivela i dettagli delle sue opere, mentre la poesia di Kate appare tra fili sparpagliati al margine della fotografia.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The world of the Polaroid image with its soft edges and unpre- dictable outcomes is a preoccupation of writer and filmmaker Kate McBride. She has used the instant medium since the 1980s to remember moments that interweave with written pieces and films she creates. She has long kept photographic and poetic journals of her travels. The Polaroid Spectra images selected for the show were shot in places as diverse as a desert in the southwestern US, the Bay of Naples, the chalky hills of Tuscany, Jerez de la Fronterra. Details reveal themselves in large pigment ink prints on handmade Japanese paper; Kate’s poetry appears in the margins among scattered threads.
