VIOLA
GRANUCCI
Viola Granucci was born in Florence in 1983 and lives in Greve in Chianti. Since 2003, she has studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, graduating in 2008 with a specialization in sculpture and photography.
In her sculptural work, she favors the use of white Tuscan terracotta and bronze. In 2006, she won a purchase prize at the “24th Gubbio Sculpture Biennale” and has participated in various exhibitions; her works have been featured in Contemporary Art Galleries from 2004 to the present.
Alongside sculpture, she has pursued photography—an important interest that led her to complete two international photographic projects during her time at the Academy. In 2006, she participated in the “Workshop Outside Project Beograd” in Serbia, where she produced a photo series exploring the identity/non-identity of Roma children and orphans in an institution. In 2007, she was awarded a scholarship to the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) in the USA, where she studied photography and developed a project on American identity.
She later produced several photographic projects, including “Scatti d’immaginario” in 2012, presented in her solo exhibition at the Young Space, Tornabuoni Gallery, Florence.
She is currently working on a new photographic project titled “Scambio d’identità” (Identity Exchange).
