TOMAINO

Giuliano Tomaino was born in La Spezia in 1945 and lives and works in Sarzana. He began his career in the late 1960s, following the path of Arte Povera, creating assemblages from objets trouvés (found objects).

He has exhibited in both public and private museums and galleries in Italy and abroad, including:
Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara, the Civic Gallery of Contemporary Art in La Spezia, Museum Im Vogtturn in Zell am See (Austria), Galata Museo del Mare in Genoa (2009), and CAMeC, the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Spezia.

He took part in the 2011 Venice Biennale.

Among his major installations:
"Di luce in luce", a light installation at the Castle of San Giorgio, La Spezia;
"Abracadabra", a painted iron installation for the Dakar Biennale;
"Il cavaliere inesistente" (The Nonexistent Knight), an installation at the Church and Cloister of Sant’Agostino in Pietrasanta (2012).
