SANDRO
GRANUCCI

Born in Lucca in 1951, he lives and works in the Chianti hills. In certain shadows, one can find a kind of window into another dimension of reality. In my sculpture, shadows become autonomous entities, separate from the subject from which they emerge, and at times they even interact with it—as in ALTER EGO, where the long shadow looming over an unaware, jubilant figure mocks its attitude. The character and features I gave this new subject recall those of the classical Satyr, with its connection to the wild, natural world and its bold irreverence. A similar appearance is seen in the shadow of BUS STOP, though in smaller scale.

More broadly, my artistic expression develops on two levels: one concerns Man, primarily viewed from a contemporary perspective, but also through themes and attitudes inherent to the human condition itself. This includes bronze works such as INVISIBLE GIFT, WITH TWO HANDS, RAIN MAN, VERY IMPORTANT GIFT, and others. The second level concerns Space, in its various dimensions—from the exploration of new spatial and sensory dimensions, to connections with Light and Color, fields of energy, and even realms of deep communication. In this context, my paintings on canvas integrated with three-dimensional elements made of metal or other materials—such as ENERGETIC FIELD OF RED and SOUL ENERGY—emerge.
